Research project led by Prof. David HILL with theme on sustainable environment successfully obtained a funding of HK$ 47.12M from the forth-round funding exercise (2014) of the Theme-based Research Scheme, RGC

The research project titled “Sustainable Power Delivery Structures for High Renewables” has successfully obtained a funding of HK$ 47.12 million from the forth-round exercise (2014) of the Theme-based Research Scheme, Research Grants Committee, Hong Kong University Grants Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This 5-year research project is led by Prof. David John HILL (Chair Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong), consisting of four research teams led by internationally renowned experts in the key areas in power systems, power electronics, computer networking and control technology. The project is missioned to determine the structure of the power delivery systems to the complete network (or grid), which can overcome various limitations and be sustainable in the long-term, including the appropriate system wide information and control systems.) Prof. HILL is one of the Co-investigators of the project “Smart Solar Energy Harvesting, Storage and Utilization”, while Prof. XU Zhao (Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University), one of the Co-principal Investigator of the same project, is also one of the Co-investigator of this project.
